With the help of rapper, singer and songwriter, Nicki Minaj, Black Friday — the traditional start of the holiday shopping season — will once again turn pink on Nov. 26 as CompUSA and TigerDirect turn the shopping extravaganza into a charitable free-for-all for the fourth consecutive year. The consumer electronics and technology retailers expect to raise more than $100,000 from a portion of online sales and from customer donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure(R), the world’s largest breast cancer organization.
In collaboration with Universal Music, Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment, Systemax is proud to announce the support of Nicki Minaj. Tune in to the 4th Annual Pink Friday “Live!” webcast to see Nicki Minaj’s video of her hit single “Your Love” from her debut album which was released on November 22, 2010, and a Skype interview with Nicki during the webcast.
“I fully support the efforts of Pink Friday and their goal of raising funds to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and their charge to bring an end to breast cancer. I am pleased to be associated with the PINK FRIDAY initiatives and to raise awareness amongst fellow African-American women, who are often the hardest hit by breast cancer.”
Customers can get involved in the following ways:
Donate $1, $5, $10 or $20, on top of their in-store or online purchase to Komen for the Cure. Watch a live 12-hour Webcast that will be available on www.CompUSA.com and www.tigerdirect.com, from noon to midnight. During the live webcast, limited quantities of electronics and other products will be sold at 50 percent off list price. The full proceeds from the sales will go directly to Komen. Sponsors of the Webcast include Intel, AMD, Lenovo, Logitech, I-INC, Canon, CA, Toshiba, TRENDnet, Garmin, Targus, Ultra, Samsung and Sony. View inspiring breast cancer survivor videos and educational segments during the webcast.
“As we enter into our fourth Pink Friday, we are reminded that giving back is what the holiday season is all about,” said Gilbert Fiorentino, Chief Executive of Systemax Technology Product Group, including CompUSA and TigerDirect. “Along with our customers, we will make a tremendous impact on Komen for the Cure’s promise to end breast cancer.”
The 12-hour Webcast will feature an interview (via Skype) with Nicki Minaj and her “Your Love” video from her debut album, Pink Friday, breast cancer survivor interviews, informational videos and the sale of thousands of products at 50 percent off, with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to Komen. The products go “live” at different times during the Webcast and are sold to the first people who call in. The online products being offered at 50 percent off will not be available in stores, but in celebration of Pink Friday, all of CompUSA and TigerDirect’s retail locations throughout the country and in Puerto Rico will go “pink” with decor, bags, in-store donations and more.
“We are so grateful for CompUSA and TigerDirect’s continued dedication to our Komen and our promise to find a cure for breast cancer,” said Katrina McGhee, vice president of global partnerships at Komen for the Cure. “Pink Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year and this program allows a huge audience to learn about our cause and have the opportunity to give back as they start their holiday shopping.”
