Roman's Revenge
OK OK, so I know everyone has heard Nicki's [Roman's] song with Slim Shady from her upcoming debut album, Pink Friday. Nicki has done a few interviews with mags and people and hasn't really elaborated on what the track was for and who it was intended for. She just did an interview with Wendy Williams on her show and said her fans and those guilty knew who the song was written for. First off. I love her verses in the song. They're sassy and show she's got a flow like no other. BUT, what exactly are all of those disses for and for who? I'm a FAN of hers. I enjoy her a lot. But I wanted to know what others perspectives were on her music and her lyrics in the song. I also feel, because she is a woman who has acknowledged patriarchy in the Media and in the Rap industry, why she would diss another girl/woman so hard while also claiming to be representing all the girls who are trying to make it in a man's world.
ANOTHER issue I ran into was Em's verses and his blatant homophobia and misogyny towards woman. I am disappointed that she allowed him to use fag and express violence towards woman. Em's notorious for his use of strong words, but I know Nicki knows that it's wrong. She admitted it herself in interviews. I think it's a bit hypocritical of her to be saying one thing and doing another. It's almost as if she allowed Em to take over the track instead of making sure it was NICKI'S. Help me out here... I'm not tryna discredit Nicki. Believe me, I LOVE HER. Apart of that love comes from her recognizing the struggle of females in the industry and also her embrace of her gay fans... but I'm having trouble believing it when shit like this happens.

I haven't been this excited about an artist's album comin out probably since Usher dropped confessions. I'm sure Nicki Minaj will excede my expectations and hopefully she can go platinum the first week.

Thing is... they're not JUST songs.
They have implications and impacts beyond music.
If you're going to talk the talk, walk it too. Rap has girls turning against each other when they should be helping each other out.
When you let lyrics like fag and violence towards women hit the masses, you fucking better know the implications and consequences of that. It perpetuates much more than JUST a song.
Like I said, I LOVE Nicki. I can listen to stupid music. My issue isn't really with her, I guess. It's more with her tolerance of homophobia and misogyny. She says she doesn't want to be objectified, yet stands amongst those who do just that.
I like how she owns who she is and that she doesn't want to be some stupid ass's sex object. She's more about her flows and her wigs and her aesthetic than catering to the boys.
Still... anyone else? -

Eminem admitted that he doesn't mind gay marriage, so one he uses the word homo its a different meaning to him. I think he is saying that how woman can be so fake and whores, just what Nicki i saying also.
