PERHAPS BANKS HERE IN NIGERIA MAY CONSIDER THE CONCEPT AND PRAGMATISM OF PROVIDING USD [ UNITED STATES DOLLAR ] BASED CREDIT CARDS [ VISA, MASTERCARD, ETC ] IN SMALLER DENOMINATIONS E.G $10, $ 20 .........

    yeah.

i was at a bank here in Lagos State, { Yoruba-Land }, NIGERIA the other day.

i had heard something on the radio and also seen something on the ATM machines of this bank to the effect that customers could make INTERNATIONAL ON-LINE TRANSACTIONS using their NIGERIAN NAIRA BASED CREDIT CARDS.

and, Onika ohbee nm, there's some stuff related to you folks .........
[ --------- Cherokee D' Ass, Serena Williams, Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, etc --------- ]
    ......... that i have been seeing on the internet since maybe 2013 ? 2014 ? 2012 ?
that i had wanted to check out
but i had needed to make credit card on-line payments in U.S. Dollars.
the fee / bill / charge isn't very high .........
just $1.00 really for an initial check-out.
however it has been somewhat problematic? to proceed forwards because :
[1] at the time i saw the stuff Nigerian banks were not? issuing U.S.D [UNITED STATES DOLLAR ] based credit cards to their customers or so i was told ?????????
[2] the minimum amount for a NIGERIAN NAIRA BASED credit card
    ( --------- VISA at a bank i checked out --------- )
that could be used to do the on-line transactions was about N6,750.00 or so at the time which didn't make sense to me as :
$1.00 has approximately been anywhere between N100 to N200 since 1986 or so when
HIS EXCELLENCY, GENERAL IBRAHIM BADAMASI BABANGIDA [IBB]
MILITARY PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
began implementing his SAP(STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAMME)
    and other ECONOMIC POLICIES.
and using the high value of $1.00 = N 200.00 to make some calculations as to what i needed
to actually do the on-line transaction, it occurred to me
    that i needed only N200.00 = $1.00 and
that after that transaction the remaining N6500.00 or so on the NIGERIAN NAIRA VISA CREDIT CARD
would be A WASTE as i had no other USD based on-line transaction to do.
so, i just let that one go .........

anyway, at the bank that had been doing adverts, they said to me that they had 2 types of credit cards.
ONE IS NAIRA BASED. THE OTHER IS USD BASED.

i didn't quite see how i could --------- EASILY --------- WITHOUT HASSLES --------- use a Nigerian Naira based credit card to make an online payment at the websites i wanted to go to.
so, i asked about the USD BASED CREDIT CARDS.
and they told me the minimum value = $50.00

using a very high exchange rate [ ......... i really don't know what the exchange rate is at the moment ......... ] of N200.00 = $1.00,
    then $50.00 = 50 X 200 = N10,000.00

i didn't really see the sense in
    buying a $50.00 / N10,000.00 CREDIT CARD,
    using only $1.00 / N200.00
    and letting the rest of it [ ......... $49.00 / N9800.00 ......... ] GO TO WASTE.

and it occurred to me that
    ACROSS NIGERIA
there may be many folks who would like to make small payments
    [ ......... $1.00, $5.00, $10.00 ......... ]
    at different on-line websites
but have BEEN UNABLE TO DO SO because of the way the banks here in Nigeria work.

    Onika nm, i guess that
    IN THE SAME WAY that
THE SMALLEST DENOMINATION ( --------- N100.00 --------- ) GSM PHONE RECHARGE CARD IS
    THE FASTEST MOVING AND
THE HIGHEST INCOME GENERATING DENOMINATION ( ref:economies of scale and all that, etc )
of recharge cards AT ALL the GSM SERVICE PROVIDERS HERE IN NIGERIA
    [ ......... MTN, AIRTEL, GLO, ETISALAT ......... ],
the realities of the Nigerian Market Place will show that
IF MADE AVAILABLE to the Nigerian public
the SMALLER DENOMINATION USD BASED CREDIT CARDS will INEVITABLY be
    THE MOST POPULAR
    THE PREFERRED CHOICE
    THE FASTEST MOVING
    THE HIGHEST INCOME GENERATING DENOMINATION
OF USD BASED CREDIT CARDS here in NIGERIA.

i wonder if the banks here in Nigeria will do something about this ?????????

    Cheers !!!!!!!!!
