Dance music was some what scarce in the North West province during the late 60's and early 70's. This was around the same time that my folks were collecting music. The likes of Tina Turner and John Amatrain were amongst the many records and cassette tapes that made up the vast collection. Kwaito or the then Bubble Gum music made up a huge part of this historic collection. Thus inevitably this would be the music that I would come to be exposed to. As a boy, I remember listening to the Peter Stuyvesant Music Spectacular over and over again; thinking that one day I would marry Tina Turner.
Records slowly made way for cassette tapes in the house hold HI-FI systems. Listening to the then new artists music it was then I realized that it was a particular genre or artist I was feeling drawn towards but music as a whole. I started following my uncle's collection of music. This was the time tapes were making way for the now still popular CDs. From the early compilations by Dj Fresh and Glen Lewis, I new I had found my place. Dj Fresh's House Flavour volume one that went on to get endorsed by Colgate in the later editions, Mid Tempo and to the Testament of House, my curiosity was coaxed and inspired.
My cousin and I collected music insistently. Compilation after compilation, this was our passion. The dream was to go to the Soul Candi institute of Music straight after graduating form high school. It was in high school that the love for technology was born. 2006 came and decisions had to be made. I had made mine but because my parents wanted a diploma I had to go to school. I decided to study IT. Having completed my IT studies timorously I decided to live my dream; I enrolled at the Soul Candi Institute of Music in 2010. This was the year that I was completely swamped with my World Cup duties in Pretoria where I was the Supervisor of the Host City IT & T Volunteers. I was determined though and made sacrifices. I would take a taxi straight after work and head to Johannesburg to try and make my classes at SCIM and was sometimes unsuccessful. Two weeks into my studies and I had a regular one hour Friday night slot at Cappello State Theatre in Pretoria. I play at private and corporate events that have taken me as far as Vhenda in the Limpopo Province. I love music and am extremely passionate about it. My ecstasy is seeing people on the dance floor get taken over by the Kicks and snares of a well composed song. Now I keep myself busy with various endeavours such as my IT Company, modelling and Djying.
