Distant Memory by Still Standing

Distant Memory

Like leaves blown
away in the wind
never to return again.

Like chalk erased from the board
your words not significant anymore.

When it comes to you
I have amnesia
which means I don't need ya.

The things we did
the tears I shed
have washed away
like the rain on
a summer's day.

Someone mentions you
I have to say "Who?"
It's been so long
I don't believe I'm wrong.

Like a flower in the frost
you have been lost

in the dark cold corners
of my mind.
Like an abandoned child
I left you behind.

As the sun sets
the heart forgets
past love and former regrets.

Then a new day begins.
