I am a 26 year old man. I have loved Janet Jackson since I could understand sound. I have been down with Mary J. Blige since What's The 411?. Lil Wayne and I grew up together & I've been rocking with Cash Money since day one. From the moment I heard Haley Williams of Paramore sing, "How did we get here, when I used to know you so well?", I was smitten. Rihanna has been blowing my mind since I first learned "Pon de Replay". Brandy Norwood has been singing the soundtrack to my life since I was 8 years old.

It's safe to say that I have been a fan of music (and several music) artists for a very long time. I don't limit myself to any one genre. I love music - it lives within my heart. I know that was a lot to read - and, by now, I'm sure, you're wondering what the point of this entry is.

With my love of music - I have never loved an artist as much as I love Onika Tanya "Nicki Minaj" Maraj. The first song that I heard was, "Higher Than a Kite" featuring Lil Wayne. I liked how raw her voice was. I enjoyed her rhyme. She had a lot of swagg and was very sexy - at the same time. It kinda began my "crush". I began to search her on google, watch her videos on YouTube, and search for her music on any illegal download site that I could find it. My crush, eventually, grew into a liking. I had never heard a rapper (besides Wayne) who could be so clever with there metaphors. I would here her lyrics and be like, "Damn! That's dope. I would have never thought to put these words together. And, they make sense!". I gradually grew to love her when I was overdosed with feature after feature. As far as I'm concerned, nothing else exists on the "5 Star Chick (Remix)" record. It was everything to me. I think it was the first time that I realized that I was going to spend the rest of my life loving this woman.

Once I upped my blog game, I discovered more ways to ways to download her music. Instead of having a track here and a track there, I obtained all of her previously recorded mixtapes. I would listen to her music from the time that I woke up. I would listen to it until I would arrive at work. I would play the songs in my head, while at work. And, as soon as I got off, the music went right back into action. I knew that I had to have more. And, she never disappointed me.

She killed every verse on a feature. She gave me life in every video. And, her voices on the We Are Young Money record are the only reason that I had any interest in the record - and this is coming from a die hard Lil Wayne fan. It has been such a long, hard, and beautiful journey. And, I'm so glad to be able see things coming to life in her career.

Of course, for the longest time, no one could understand my love. I lost several friends on Facebook. I lost even more followers on Twitter. It naturally became my duty to share with the world this new love that I had found. And, haters were not going to let me go without knowing that they exist. According to many friends, associates, and overly opinionated strangers, Nicki was fake. The "Barbie" shit was played out. She was biting Kim. She was trying too hard to be like everyone else. She was only going to ever be a featured artist - she would never have an album. But, through all of the negativity, my love remained strong.

Thankfully, Nicki obtained great connections within the music industry; and, she hooked up with some of the GREATEST - who gave her the opportunity to change the opinion of the nay-sayers. She murdered on tracks like: "For the Money" by Fabolous, "Up All Night" by Drake, "Sweet Dreams (Freestyle)" by Lil Wayne, "Bottoms Up" by Trey Songz, and "Monster" by Kanye featuring Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Bon-Iver, and of course, Nicki (The star of the track). More and more, people began seeing what I saw. And, she began to gain more love (and, more respect).

Today, I look back on all of the negative comments that I've heard made; and, I laugh. I love the victory that has been gained. I love that she's been able to overcome all adversities. And, I love that - reguardless of how hard some tried to hold her down - she rose above and is conquering the world of hip-hop and music. She's not only impressing women (which, I believe, was her only intention). But, she's impressing the world.

"Roman's Revenge" with Eminem is the perfect way to shut the haters up. Continuing to rise on the Billboard charts is the perfect way to shut up all of those that said she couldn't do it. And, Pink Friday is a testimony to anyone that, if you put your all into something and work your hardest at obtaining your goals, anything is possible.

My crush grew into an interest. My interest helped me form a liking. Over time, my liking devoloped into a great love. Naturally, I fell in love. And, now, Nicki Minaj is EVERYTHING TO ME. #ItsPinkFridayHoe
