Chapter 5: Too Not, Too Not... Perfect.

I knocked on Aubrey's door. He opened it, and when he saw me, his face lit up. "Hey, Nika... Come on in." I smiled, and he made me some tea. I had long since given up coffee. My smile needed to stay pretty 24/7, no yellow stains. "You left me a message... You wanted to talk?" he asked, grinning. I nodded, no matter how much I wanted to deny that I wanted to see him. He flopped down on the couch next to me. "Ok, so what do you need?" he asked, sipping his tea. I clutched my mug, and said, "I was thinking... Maybe we could go out more often." I paused. The only sound was the kettle whistling on the stove. "That'd be great." he said, smiling. "Yes!" I thought in my head.

"So I wanted to take you somewhere." I continued. He raised his eyebrows. "Well, it's just a place I used to go when I was a kid. It's kind of near Los Angeles... But not really. Anyway, there won't be paparazzi waiting there, and it's a cute place." I smiled. He grinned. "Sounds amazing. What time?" The next day was Saturday, so it was perfect. "How about 12:30ish?" I suggested. He nodded. "Listen, I gotta meet Wayne at 11 in the studio, so I gotta see you." Aubrey shoved his hands in his pockets, sheepishly looking at the floor. "No, no, it's fine!" I assured him. "Take your tea! Thanks so much." he smiled, and kissed me.

Yes. Two kisses in one night... Perfect.

I really didn't want to have to leave.
